Although no longer active in the industry, Julie Meadows has left us many memorable moments. An incredibly sexy corn-fed from the farmlands of the mid-west, Julie Meadows looked like the sweet-faced girl next door, but was certainly as nasty as they come. We sure hope she reconsiders her decision to retire! Q: What were you like growing up? A: I was actually really shy, a wallflower. I was a people watcher though. I would be the one at the party over in the corner just observing everyone doing the craziest stuff. I didn't really participate in a lot of things. I was very introspective, intense young woman. I was much more intense than any of the other girls I knew, but I experimented with this and that. Even now, I am good at separating my life and leading sort of a dual existence. One the one hand, I'm very experimental and open with myself and on the other hand, very conservative with how I spend my time and who I spend it with. I wanted to be a psychiatrist ever since junior high.
Q: Did your friends and family know what you did? A: I don’t hide anything from my family because I'm not afraid of criticism. I think they were upset by the whole thing, but they didn't tell me. I don't think they want to bring me down that way, and they know that I don't care what they think I tell them because I love them, and I don't want them to find out from someone else. Ultimately, it's my life and I will do what I want, regardless of what anyone says or thinks. I got to LA and called my mom to tell her I was going to be in an adult movie. She just told me to take care of myself and that was it. I think there are a few of my friends who were aware of what I was like and actually expected it, but at least ninety nine percent of them would be totally shocked. I wore oversized rock T Shirts, leather jackets, black everything. I didn't ever show myself off. Q: What did you do before you started in porn? A: I was a dancer in Texas at the time. Before that, I had done a few odd jobs, but dancing was the first thing I was passionate about. Even though I loved it, I was starting to get a little burned out. Five nights a week is a lot of work!
Q: How did you get started shooting? A: I met director Michael Raven at the club one night in Dallas, and six months later I moved to LA. I immediately went to an agent and signed with World Modeling. A lot of producers get their talent through him. A few people told me that I just had to work with Ed Powers, that he is the guy to do your first scene with. It was good. Q: Do you remember your first scene? What was it and who was it with? A: My first movie was Ed Powers' More Dirty Debutantes #94. Q: What was it like? A: I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I had never met him, but as soon as I got in and talked with him for a bit, I was fine. When it was over, I thought to myself, 'this has been a good experience.' So I just decided to ride the wave and see what happened. There have been some great scenes and some not so great, but that's to be expected in anything you do. Things can't go the way you want them to all the time in any business. For the most part, I had a lot of control and that's important because of what we do. Q: Who were your favorite performers to work with Male and Female? A: Well, I never worked work with females, but my male favorites are Mark Davis, Ian Daniels, Chris Cannon , Nick Manning, Steve Hatcher, Cheyne Collins, Dillon Day, Randy Spears. Q: How many movies did you shoot? A: In total I shot about one hundred and fifty. I did a lot of gonzo in the beginning and then I started doing features. I liked features better.
Q: What did you like most about features? A: I like all aspects of features, the bigger crews, more of a teamwork experience. I loved quality more than quantity. Q: What would you say your best performances were? A: I am really proud of all the stuff I shot for Elegant Angel, all of it was a lot of fun. Internal Affairs 2 for them was my favorite Gonzo, it was the only internal cumshot I ever did and it was cool and very intimate. I did the scene with my boyfriend at the time and it was great. Cinderella, directed by Jane Hamilton was my favorite feature film. Q: Have you ever been curious to be with another woman sexually? A: Actually no, I have never been attracted to females and never been with one in my life – sorry guys! I am just not into it so I feel you shouldn’t do something you do not like.
Q: What are your favorite TV shows? A: I like so many of them! Inside The Actor's Studio, Hell's Kitchen, and Kathy Griffin's: My Life On The D-List. I have to say, I got to see Eddie Izzard live at the Coronet Theater and he is so brilliant, we were in stitches and learned a few things, too. Anyone who can combine facts and comedy; educational entertainment...is the best! Eddie rules comedy. I Love Dave Chappelle, too. Q: Favorite Movies? A: I love goofy or heavy dialogue movies. The Big Lebowski, anything Woody Allen, When Harry Met Sally. Mainly classics that never get old. Bruce Lee movies still rock, I Heart Huckabees and Something's Gotta Give, because it combines everything I love in a good movie - France, a female writer who's uptight and falls for a cool guy, great dialogue comedy and Diane Keaton. Next to that I'd say Miami Rhapsody and a little known 80's flick entitled American Dreamer. I Love that movie!!! Q: What does the future hold for you? A: Well I am no longer a performer; I’m still a cool chick though, just low key. I am married and monogamous and really happy!! I deserve it, too. Hell, we all deserve it, so if you ever get really down on yourself just think of me. If a crazy Texas gal turned porn star can go through Hell and back and find love, YOU CAN TOO! AND. I found it in L.A., which is like, totally weird, Dude! Totally! In fact, I think it makes for an intriguing story. Southern Angel with a broken wing meets Midwestern Devil with a broken heart; they meet and learn to love again. He’s my awesome sweetie and I feel like a person again. I can’t get a job to save my life, but I’m happy. I am writing, writing, writing and I love it. It’s fun to be productive and indulge in a very mental art. I put a few things on my blogs, but I save all the good stuff for publication. I better get published! If not this, then I will be forced to move to Mexico and give diving lessons to tourists. Hmmm..... On second thought.....
