Tera Patrick’s star is rising. Her almost meteoric surge to fame over the past few years has spawned opportunity in everything from adult film to her own line of sex toys. Read on to hear what’s next for this porn star phenomenon.

Q: Where do your exotic looks come from?

A: My father is Jewish and my mother is Thai.

Q: What is your family situation? How do they feel about what you do?

A: When I was quite young my mother returned permanently to Thailand, and my father raised me alone. After all the posing I had done in magazines, I think he had an idea of what was next to come. His advice was to be careful and do whatever made me happy. And to make sure I was making a lot of money.

Q: Can you give us some background, what it was that pointed you in the direction of adult film? Or, what started your career path as a whole?

A: I was discovered in San Francisco at age 13. I signed a modeling contract with Ford Models, which included moving to New York City. It was a dream fulfilled. I always wanted to be a model. I looked up to women like Marilyn Monroe. That pretty much takes me to 18 years old.

Q: And what was next for you?

A: When I turned 18, I left modeling to pursue my education. I went to college and earned a two year associate’s degree in nursing. Later in my life, I would love to be a physician.

Q: So what was it that ultimately led you in the direction of adult?

A: Some of my girlfriends and I sent pictures to Playboy. They contacted me the next day and said they were interested in shooting me. Shortly after that, I appeared in Penthouse and Hustler. After that, it was all just a whirlwind. I very easily could have ended up going down another road.

Q: You own a few different companies, correct?

A: I own my own production company now, and I own a talent agency.

Q: Are you considering full-time mainstream?

A: I enjoy things like writing, I really do. If opportunities arise I may capitalize on them, but I really haven’t been trying very hard. I make a lot of money in adult, and that is where I started. I feel a certain loyalty to that.

Q: If you were to go full-time mainstream, what would be the ultimate outlet for you?

A: I have always wanted to be a star in an ad campaign. Guess, Versace, Louis Vuitton, something wonderful. But I am not ready to abandon porn 100%.

Q: What do you tell the girls you speak to through your agency regarding mainstream opportunity?

A: Honestly, I tell them they are in the wrong agency. It’s just not how it works; you don’t get into mainstream through porn. There are obviously a few crossover success stories, myself and Jenna Jameson are examples, but there is still a lot of shaky ground in terms of going mainstream once you’ve been in adult.

Q: You were married in 2004, correct?

A: Yes, my husband Evan (Seinfeld) is a wonderful man. We were married in January of 2004.

Q: Dare I ask how on earth your husband is cool with his beautiful, talented, highly sought-after wife being involved with strangers on camera?

A: Ha ha, I get asked this all the time! I don’t work with men anymore. The only man I will work with is my husband. I quit working with men two years before I met Evan. We don’t have that kind of relationship; we are very monogamous. When we met in 2003 we decided to form my production company and he agreed to star in movies with me. I still work with other women, but we take our relationship very seriously. I plan on being with him forever.

Q: What is your end goal with your production company?

A: I want to help girls realize their true potential. I want to show them how to be treated with respect. This of course goes for the guys I work with as well.

Q: At the end of the day, do you want to go home and relax with your husband? Does it affect your home sex life that you work all day in front of the camera together?

A: We have struck a balance. We go home, he catches up on email and I catch up on Law and Order, and then we hop into bed together! He’s pretty riled up if he watched me film any girl on girl scenes.

Q: What are some of your biggest turn on and offs?
