MySpace. Is it for Adult?

There is no question that the social networking site, MySpace.com is one of the most popular destinations on the web. It seems as if simply everyone has a MySpace page. Musicians and comedians own MySpace pages. Politicians have MySpace pages. Even notorious killers have run MySpace pages. Several ordinary people have gained relative infamy via a MySpace account.

This is the power of the Internet, the ability to reach the world (and the world to reach you) from the comfort and convenience of home. For many reasons, My Space has a hold on the public's interest. The service is free and very easy to use. An account offers the ability to upload pictures, embed YouTube videos and mp3s. A MySpace user can add friends and create mini, personal networks. Whereas, all these tools have been available for years, MySpace repackages them in a friendly, newbie-loving format - FREE!

One must remember that the average surfer has probably never created a webpage or uploaded files to an ftp server. MySpace is for folks that want a presence on the net yet don't have the desire or inclination to learn the skills adult webmasters have been honing for years.

Consequentially, the MySpace craze makes the site a shiny target for commercial exploitation. There is no place safe from marketing, even on the Internet. As expected, many adult webmasters have decided to jump into the MySpace phenomenon. One has to wonder if this is a wise move? Granted, MySpace is a hot property, ripe for the picking, but at what cost? Must we always climb the mountain just because it's there?

Have you read the MySpace Terms of Service page? I suggest you do it before you create that new account with porn sponsor content, a fake owner named Missy38-23-35, who just loves sex and has twenty friends that all fly sponsor banners with your referrer ID. Before you post one nipple shot or insert the words fuck, slut, gangbang or bukkake on your MySpace page take the time to pull your head out of your ass and think about what you're doing. If you read the MySpace TOS, maybe you'll realize that trying to promote adult content on their pages isn't just a violation of the terms, it's a gross violation the terms.

First off, there are the eligibility requirements for membership to MySpace:

"By using the MySpace Services, you represent and warrant that... (c) you are 14 years of age or older..."

Ponder that over for a minute. Minors will see your MySpace page, that is, until MySpace shuts your account down for violation of these terms:

“Non-commercial Use by Members. The MySpace Services are for the personal use of Members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by MySpace.com.
“Content/Activity Prohibited:

...exploits people in a sexual or violent manner

...contains nudity, violence, or offensive subject matter or contains a link to an adult website

... involves commercial activities and/or sales without our prior written consent such as contests, sweepstakes, barter, advertising, or pyramid schemes

... for band and filmmaker profiles, uses sexually suggestive imagery or any other unfair, misleading or deceptive Content intended to draw traffic to the profile.”

Wait. There's more.

“The following is a partial list of the kind of activity that is illegal or prohibited on the MySpace Website and through your use of the MySpace Services:

... advertising to, or solicitation of, any Member to buy or sell any products or services through the MySpace Services.

... attempting to impersonate another Member or person

... displaying an advertisement on your profile, or accepting payment or anything of value from a third person in exchange for your performing any commercial activity on or through the MySpace Services on behalf of that person, such as placing commercial content on your profile, posting blogs or bulletins with a commercial purpose, selecting a profile with a commercial purpose as one of your "Top 8" friends, or sending private messages with a commercial purpose."

No one is claiming that adult webmasters have no right to join MySpace. However, after reading MySpace's TOS, it is abundantly clear that posting an adult oriented page for the purposes of selling adult content is a violation of terms. Not only that, but considering that MySpace caters to millions of minors, porn on a MySpace page is highly unethical. As stated, if a person builds a MySpace page and that person just happens to be an adult webmaster, there's nothing technically wrong with the effort. However, when an adult webmaster creates a MySpace page with the intent of selling adult content, then that adult webmaster is playing with fire.

Andre Madness Wraps Latest Feature for Adam & Eve, Carmen Inked

When one considers the most prominent couples (married or otherwise) where both parties are immersed in the porn biz, it's pretty much impossible to overlook the likes of Audrey Hollander and Otto Bauer. This is especially the case when you consider that Audrey snagged the title of AVN's Female Performer of the Year in 2006 in just her second year of eligibility while Otto was simultaneously nominated for AVN's Male Performer of the Year. To compound all of this, the pair boasts a body of work as performers and directors that spans hundreds of adult films including one of 2005's most talked about movies, Michael Ninn's Catherine, their infamous Otto and Audrey Destroy the World series, and Otto's prolific work as a director for the Mach 2 label.

This is all well and good, but I'd always found myself wondering what's really going on between these two- that is until I interviewed them at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. .

"My curiosity stemmed from a few things. First there's the fact that Audrey and Otto are known for their brand of supercore (as they've dubbed it) pornography that often includes all manner of anal gymnastics on the part of Audrey along with the gagging, spitting, hair pulling goodness you'd expect to come from something by that name. Dominant/submissive themes that push the limits of accepted boundaries are also prevalent and it's quite frequent that the two work with other performers including group scenes."

Given my cynical nature and pure curiosity about how their choice of careers could affect their marriage, I found myself with a lot of questions. Doesn't their work sometimes cause jealousy or other such relationship wounding emotions? Do they or can they actually love each other in any significant or healthy way? Are they just freaks?.

The simple answer to all of those questions is yes. However, as with anything that involves human beings, things are far more interesting than a simple yes or no answer could ever portray.

The story of Audrey and Otto began when Otto and a friend grew weary of New "We just went to LaGuardia and got a standby flight to the closest place that was warm- the cheapest place that was warm," Otto tells me. "We flew down to Miami with no plans other than goofing off for the night and going back to New York the next day. And walking down Ocean Boulevard, in a little caf�, I saw the beautiful Audrey Hollander sitting with some friends of hers."

"I hit her up for a little conversation, she responded, and I took her away from mommy and daddy not long after that!"

That was just over 7 years ago. "Time flies when you're having fun," Audrey says with a grin as wide as the grill on a Mack Truck.

Audrey eventually made her way to New York to be with her new beau, but there was something Otto hadn't told her- that he was already a semi-established porn performer. At this point, he'd done several pro-am type flicks and had proved himself enough to perform with the likes of Candida Royalle and to get work doing public sex scenes (well before the days of Viagra, he's quick to point out) in Rick Savage's Streets of New York series. It wasn't until the two were hanging out in one of Otto's favorite haunts, New York's Circle Bar, that Audrey found out about her new paramour's porn past when an acquaintance of Otto's made an off-hand remark. .

This was all pretty shocking for the young Audrey. She was not the wild child many of us would believe she had been. On the contrary, she had little sexual experience and confesses, "I was a cheerleader and I was really scared of guys. All my friends had boyfriends and it was always really drama oriented so I was just like, 'I don't need any of that!'" But when faced with her Otto's porn past, she said that she put it in a perspective that I felt was quite profound. .

"Hey, ya know what? When you meet someone with an interesting past it just means you're going to have an interesting future together," Audrey says.

So with that, the very loving corruption of Audrey Hollander by Otto Bauer began.

A rep for Christina Aguilera tells Us magazine she isn't pregnant despite a report in the New York Daily News claiming she was. An employee at the Beverly Hills kids boutique Bellini said that Aguilera and her husband went on a $3,000 shopping spree over the weekend and that Aguilera told her she was having a baby. The worker said:

"They seemed really excited. She was talking to [another customer] and she said she took a home pregnancy test and that it was positive. She kept saying they'd have to come back when they knew the sex of the baby."
