I'm not going to scare you about porn and the law this time. My hope is that you've been sufficiently frightened already. My wish is you realize that as an adult webmaster, you stand on shaky ground.
In a perfect world, the laws covering our business would be clear. Even before the Internet, obscenity law was at best, a gray area. Oh sure, our lawmakers give us laws but which ones do we follow? International laws? Federal laws? State laws? City or county laws? The advent of the World Wide Web has simply added to our confusion. How can community standards apply when our customer base covers the planet? Why is it that when we comply with all they demand, they go and add more regulations, tucked inside new bills?
It just isn't fair. The Internet porn industry has done more to remove sex workers from the clutches of pimps, gangsters and slave-traders than any I know. Our models are of age, well paid and can leave any time they want to leave. When we discover underage porn or cruelty, we expose it and report it. How many women have been rescued from a life on the street by the security and safety of webcam performance? How many lives have we saved by keeping horny college males out of bars, off the roads and away from STDs? What are the thanks we get? Social scorn, police harassment and legal bills that force us into bankruptcy. Not fair. Not fair at all.

It's Wednesday morning and my first cup of coffee is consumed. I have been sitting here reading over some of Scott's old EOA Features trying to decide what to write about. Running into a little mental block, I lean back in my chair and stretch. I think, "Lord, how did I get here?" So, I figure I'll let ya'll know a little about me, how I got here and managed to get numb to porn in the process.
I grew up in Small Town, Arkansas. I swear it had to be the cultural armpit of America. With a population of a little over 400 people and being smack dab in the middle of the Bible belt, you can imagine there weren't any "Adult" video stores nearby. I remember coming across two old, blow-the-dust-off-of-them, VHS tapes in my uncle's closet once. I remember putting them back and being so excited for the next week, or so it seemed, until I was finally home alone. I must have watched those tapes a hundred times over the years, but those two movies were pretty much the only porn I saw until the country mouse moved to the city.

I had a few different jobs when I first moved here. Some food service, some construction, but y’all know how these things are. You can only tolerate so much crap from those people before you find something else to do. So, after getting to that boiling point for the last time, I found a job working for AEBN. Thanks Kyleen! I had no idea what I was in for.
My first position there consisted of watching every single movie that came through the door. It was my job to pull out all of the nastiness, like shit and piss, that didn’t meet their criteria for acceptable content for the time. If you are not familiar with AEBN, they deal with all types of movies from all over the world. So, I had Max Hardcore's victims puking everywhere on one TV and some German guy shitting all over his wife on another. With sometimes 4 screens going at once, it didn’t take to long to build up a blocking mechanism in my brain. I realized this lately when watching a birthing video in Lamaze class with my beloved. There had to have been 10-15 guys in there. Every single one of those strong, secure men, except for me, went crying to their mommies when the raunchiness started. Hell, I was having a snack. Blood and mucus plugs couldn't even unsteady my Cheetos stained fingers.
By God, I was the best poop spotter we had. You could run a turd movie by in fast-forward and I could tell you how big, what color, and who ate it without blinking an eye. After several months of that, I was promoted. I moved to a lead data entry position where I was for two and a half years. I was in charge of opening those millions of boxes of smut and entering them into a computer system. All of that time and all of that porn made me very familiar with all the, what seems like, millions of companies that we dealt with. I had to start keeping up on who signed with whom, and what companies had rights to what movies. It was a bunch of boring stuff that would offer me no kind of opportunities in the “real” world. But I have a fever, or an illness if you know what I’m talking about. I always want my next slice of the pie to be just a little sweeter than the last. More money. Less work. You know, the usual.
So, now I’m here at EOA, reviewing sites and speaking out against the villainous scoundrels that run rampant in the porn industry today. I hope to be here for quite some time and save everyone I can.
