The Society Filter

The point of this is to try to describe to you my theory of what I call the society filter. This is something that is very hard for me to explain. I'm not sure what kind of response I will get from the public, but I wanted to do it anyway. Keep in mind I am speaking in generalities. I know this doesn't include everyone.
When we are young and we don't "know any better; before religion hits us or our parents teach us how we are supposed to act, we are raw creatures with no plan, no scheme for life. The world is completely different. The air outside feels, even smells, better and the days pass more easily. The memories are crisper and aren't burdened down by the stress that more recent memories have. We see the world with the magic and hope that life should be approached with. The idea that nothing is impossible should be in everyone's brain. We, as a people, are only as limited as we make ourselves.

As we get older and are exposed more and more to society, most people start to think in one set way, the way that the people before them have taught them to think. (In the box, or "filtered", if you will.) Not so much your parents or the people that raised you, but the people you have surrounded yourself with and/or the T.V. programs you watch. I don't think that things like T.V. are bad in any way. In fact, I probably have my face stuck in one more than most. I would even go as far to say that T.V. gets an unnecessarily bad reputation. That's only because a lot of people watch a lot of T.V., and it's a level field of play that most can relate to and attack with ease.
I DO think that all the influences that are around us mold us into a watered down version of our younger selves. That version of your self is so diluted that you don't even use the intelligence God, or whomever you believe in, gave you. We rarely tap into what we were born with. We consider it outdated software and stick it in the closet so we can use the newer "better way of thinking. I just believe that if we slow down and think long enough, the ties that bind us to a common way of thinking can be cut loose and we can be a lot more happy and content with the way things are.
Let me use an example. I'm not a historian so I don't know exact dates, but there was a time in history where, as far as a majority of society was concerned, fat women were considered a better catch than any skinny woman was. Nowadays, everywhere you look there are skinny women and that is what we have been told is the goal for a man. So, most guys immediately tell our selves "I can't stand fat chicks. Now, with us being the same mammals we were in the olden days and, still using the same kind of brain to process our thoughts, why is it, nowadays, most guys can't be happy with a chick that's over weight? It goes for a lot of women, too; so, ladies, don't think we don't know.
I guess, in a nutshell, all I'm trying to say is that deep down we determine what makes us happy. We need to embrace our individualism and, as our own person, decide what makes life enjoyable. Don't let everyone else take that away and form you into what society wants you to be.
Life is only as good as your society filter is clean.
I know that a lot of people might not see this the same way and I wanted to know if I was the only one who feels the filter tugging at my soul.

Avril Lavigne and Pink don't like Britney Spears
Source: www.thesuperficial.com
Avril Lavigne is blaming Britney Spears for her lack of popularity, saying nobody pays attention to her because Britney takes up so much space in the media.
"She has paparazzi at her house every day," Lavigne told the Australian newspaper Townsville Bulletin. "Then she does things that are crazy, so everyone talks about it."
And then when Pink was asked how she felt about her peers like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton she said:
"They just get stupider and stupider. But I guess ignorance is bliss."
Sure Britney Spears is a mess, but Avril Lavigne and Pink are out of their minds delusional. This is like Danny DeVito judging Michael Jordan for being short and then blaming him for ruining his professional basketball career.
