Vanessa grew up in upstate New York with four brothers. Her family was conservative, with only Christian or country music played in their home. Athletic throughout her life, Vanessa participated in many sports, including wrestling (on the boys' wrestling team), track, cross country, and cheerleading. She currently practices kick boxing, pilates, and yoga to maintain flexibility.
